| #76 | Obama won't go down without taking Biden and Polosi and many more with him as the number of those complicit in his madness increases (I'm sure the CIA has their own "list" of Mr. Obama's associates). Having them all arrested would would be fine with me as a wholesale change might be best. Wouldn't that bring about a "special election" with new candidates? (I can dream can't I?) Sleep tight. |

| #77 | Yup Cranky we all can dream. God wouldn't it nice if the world was like the song sung by Louie Armstrong "What a Wonderful World"? I hope we can return back to that some day, so those are my dreams..Sleep well my friend..

| #78 | Here's a rhetorical question sent to me by a friend:
Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY .... during the Carter Administration? It was very simple and at the time everybody thought it very appropriate. The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977
TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. Hey, pretty efficient, huh?
AND NOW IT ' S 2009, 32 YEARS LATER ... AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS
NECESSARY DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR
THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES
AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE!
THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY ' WHAT WAS I THINKING? Ah yes, good ole bureaucracy.
And NOW we are going to turn the Banking System & the Auto Industry over to them?
God Help Us !!! |

crankyoldguy "And NOW we are going to turn the Banking System & the Auto Industry over to them?
God Help Us !!!" Don't forget they have their sights on the Health Care System as well. As P.J. O'Rourke said "If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it is free." |

Yet we continue to be blind to what our government has done to our education system believing that our leaders know what's best for our kids. NOT! |

All great points, it is amazing how much you forget current History and that was only 32 years ago but can remember things about the country from your History books from grammar school. Also what Viper said if they get a hold of the Health Care System, we are all going to be screwed. Look how badly it works in Canada, Europe. Absolutely terrible. And if they want to opt out of their countries Health Care System, they pay this outrageous amount of money so they don't have to wait until your half dead to see a doctor. Terrible. Cranky keep em coming...tks, julia |

| #82 | Things to Ponder: If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip? If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had a Republican Congress allocate 5.6 Billion dollars for a civilian volunteer security force, as strong and well equipped as the regular Army and under his personal authority, would you have been concerned?
If George W. Bush had proposed doubling the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed doubling the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had promised detailed tracking of the spending from a $785 Billion Stimulus Bill and then postponed that oversight until 2010, would you approve or would you think something "smelled fishy"? If Bush had promised 48 hour advance posting of the same bill on the internet and only released it two hours before congressional approval, would you wonder what was being hidden from the public?
If Bush's White House Staff had spent over $300,000 flying Airforce One low over New York (for a publicity photo flyby with the Statue of Liberty) frightening the city, wouldn't you have expected Bush to make the pictures public? Would you have approved? Obama won't give them up, but he will release the secret "torture memos".
If George W. Bush had been "addicted" to using a TelePrompTer, and was afraid to give a speech without having one, would you have approved ? Would you think he was intellegent?
If George W. Bush had pre-approved/pre-picked the list of reporters allowed to ask questions at his press conferences and refused to call on the correspondent from MSNBC (FOX with Obama), would you have approved? Is that a Fair and Balanced news conference?
If George W. Bush and a Republican Congress had given hundreds of millions of dollars to a group (the right-wing equivalent of ACORN) after its members had been convicted of voter registration fraud, would you approve of them to doing the 2010 Census, which will determine congressional districts for 10 years? Will you trust ACORN in 2010?
Would you have approved of George W. Bush moving the Census from the Dept. of Commerce into the White House and putting his Chief of Staff in control of the counting?
Obama has done all this in 14 weeks -- so we still have three years and eight-and-a-half months full of surprises. |

The big question is how did any of these people graduate high school.
Never mind. Its obvious: their high school math teachers didn't know the right answers either. Cranky there in lies the problem. I am 58, if we did not pass our algebra, geometry or trig, BAM you went to summer school. Thank God my parents and the nuns busted our chops to learn. This problem has been around a good 25 years. Just push them through even at the college level. That it an absolute crime. So who do you blame? The school, the newly made teachers, lol or the total system? To me it is the Total System as if were not approved or by slide of hand acceptable none of this would happen. I have kids at my job, I call them kids that cannot even spell. They did not even know the Capital of Massachusetts. Pathetic yet they all graduated High School, how? We all the parents, the Education System and the kids all need to take part getting this system fixed as we are so far behind other cultures and they will be the ones taking the good jobs, while our's will be working at Micky D's. Terrible absolutely terrible..........This crap of not punishing your child for bad grades should stop, they need discipline and smacked in the head if they don't get it that their parents mean business.... |

| #86 | ARE WE FOOLS? This is what we will be looking at if the Government involves itself into the Health Care System. I have said it before this is not different in other Western European countries and Canada. Having lived abroad I saw what my friends had to deal with, they were taxed to death. Do we want that? I don't think so. Read it and see for yourself, this is the reality when the Free Market does not have an opportunity to operate and the Government reels it's ugly head...TAXES TAXES AND MORE TAXES...............

Why do I have to swear on the Bible in court when the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed outside? It's been right in front of our eyes all along, yet we didn't realize it. The answer is obvious: ACLU. |

In this situation obviously yes. I will watch the movie via the net when it comes out. The key to me is when they use the word proficient. How proficient? And are those kids heading towards college and the next set of uneducated or marginal teachers that will be teaching the kids down the road.
Jersey has always been crooked, not all parts it just seems the ones closer to New York. It is a shame that these things happen and will continue. But if the people in these towns do not even know how to correct it, how can they stop it? Surely the upper class people of Jersey will do nothing as their kids are okay. But They did no create this problem, the people and represetatives of these towns did. It is like a sinkhole and they love it. No accountability...a full blown investigation as to how the monies for education is being used should be undertaken by an objective party, not the government and not Just in Jersey, every where the education system is failing..talk soon, julia |
