This group is fraught with other things that are questionable.

Who funds this group?
By what authority does it train the teachers?
Does anyone screen the contents of the We the People books, Representative Democracy teachings or this UN nonsense?

Why are they forcing UN as part of the curriculum?

PARENTS, please wake the HELL UP!

GraniteGrok: Indoctrination can take many forms <---this site explains

2J     We the People                                                                                                                            90 min

Michael Brosnan, We the People, District 2 Coordinator

Art Pease, We the People, District 1 Coordinator

The “We the People” program covers most of the New Hampshire frameworks in Civics

and much of U.S. History. Three levels of textbooks and other free materials from the

Center for Civic Education will be presented.

            Civics/US History                                                                              Elementary/Middle/High School

Which is a National Curriculum.  YES< you read that correctly, this is a NATIONAL curriculum .  You might want to read about it at the Granite Grok web site.  It's another UN supportive text in Bedford and probably other high schools in NH.  Looks like this NGO is promoting it to the NH teachers!

Model UN is an after school activity and therefore an optional opportunity for our students.

Parents of children who participate may choose to have their child involved...they may also choose not to have their child involved.

While you may not want this activity to be available, I do and am excited for my child to have this opportunity.

As we live in a global society, learning more about the world and how to function cooperatively I believe to be a positive experience. Thank you.

Diane -

You want your child to grow up learning to hate America and becoming a socialist like the rest of the World and the United Nations ??

Every parent wants what they feel is best for their child.  As long as the school is not forcing this program on everyone, it is no one's business who takes this extra curricular course.

it won't just end with an extra-curricula activity for creating future socialists in America by corrupting our youth.....IB Curricula is just around the corner if the parents keep their heads in the sand....it will be forced on the rest of us in due time...

Good points.  I too want my children to learn about the world.  We travel extensively with them and they've been to Europe a few times.   Who doesn't want their children to learn about the world?

The question is, do you want that to be done by a extreme political organization?  Who will add poitical indoctrination to the materials/presentations/curriculum?

At the UNESCO web site, they say they support Values Clarification.  Who's values?  Not the parents!  The UN's.

The schools need to get back to educating and leaving the indoctrination out of the mix.  We have enough trouble getting kids to learn the basics, why on earth do we want to jump on board with a politcal program?

Yes, if it's after school, then one has the opportunity to opt out of the program.  However from the link above, this is what is being sold to the teachers as part of "Civics".

How many parents have any idea that with the UN program, you get a left wing ideology pushed on your children?

If a school teaches the Constitution - students learn to think for themselves...

If a school teaches UN Model or IB Curricula....the government thinks for the students....and students become dependant on the government....like socialists or like democrats.....

Our local government in Windham already thinks they knows what is best for us by ignoring our votes......Windham annual delibrative session and town election is nothing more than a mock vote to show face time of democracy in action..but behind the scenes our elected "volunteers" find ways to circumvent or ignore the voters......and justify it to its small circles to promote its agenda...

Imagine that attitude in the State and National level of government. It isn't happening because american patriotic citizenry resist it...but as they exploit our youth with socialistic ideals over the course of time..our defenses weaken against socialism control and erosion of American values and way of life take a backseat to placating the world because our youth a brainwashed at young age in public schools....with UN values....

Have had this discussion before.  The Model UN program is an elective, program that takes place after school hours except for the actual mock UN meeting itself.  I attended the program myself at a public high school in Connecticut (not an IB program).  Was I brainwashed?  No.  Did it tickle that interest in me to further explore the world?  Yes.  The experience contributed to my drive to study aboard in college twice (undergrad & MBA).  Today, I am a global professional who is proud to be an American.  The US is the best country in the world; but, it is not perfect and we can learn a lot from our global neighbors.

What bothers me here is that this is an elective program.  No one is forced into it.  Thus, I do not believe a single of group of parent(s) should block the opportunity for other students who have their parents’ support to attend.  Afterall, isn’t this a Democracy?

Remember, no matter how left, right, or center any education program is, at the end of the day PARENTS have the greatest influence over their children.
